SECHSKIES, previously known as Sechs Kies, is a popular South Korean boy band comprised of four talented members: Eun Jiwon, Lee Jaijin, Kim Jaeduck, and Jang Suwon. Originally formed with two sub-units, Black Kies and White Kies, SECHSKIES made their debut on April 15, 1997, rocking the K-pop scene with their album "School Byeolgok" under Daesung Entertainment (now known as DSP Media). The group hit a major milestone on January 12, 2000, celebrating their 1000th day with fans before shocking the world with an abrupt disbandment announcement on May 18, 2000. Rumors swirled about the mysterious breakup, with some speculating that the decision was forced by their agency. Despite the split, the members forged ahead in the entertainment industry. Eun Jiwon, Kang Sunghoon, and Lee Jaijin pursued solo careers and TV appearances, while Kim Jaeduck and Jang Suwon formed the duo J-WALK, entertaining fans until their military service. In an unexpected twist, SECHSKIES made a triumphant return on April 4, 2016, with a reunion concert featuring five members. After signing with YG Entertainment and solidifying their lineup, the group continued to captivate audiences with their music. However, challenges arose in 2018 when Kang Sunghoon faced scandals prompting him to temporarily step back from SECHSKIES activities. The group soldiered on but by the end of the year, YG confirmed Kang Sunghoon's departure and the termination of his contract. As of now, the future of SECHSKIES remains uncertain, with their profile removed from YG Entertainment's website. Despite the ups and downs, the group's journey continues to be a captivating and unforgettable chapter in K-pop history.
