ASTRO, a dynamic six-member boy group under the management of Fantagio, burst onto the K-pop scene on February 23, 2016, with their debut mini album 'Spring Up'. Prior to their official debut, the members of ASTRO honed their skills as part of the Fantagio iTeen program, known then as iTeen Boys. The group's debut EP 'Spring Up' immediately made waves, featuring the catchy title track "Hide & Seek" and garnering international recognition. ASTRO quickly captured the hearts of fans, dubbing them Aroha (short for "ASTRO hearts all fans").
In August 2020, ASTRO expanded their repertoire with the formation of their first sub-unit, MOONBIN & SANHA, consisting of Moonbin and Yoon San-ha. The duo released their first EP 'IN-OUT' in September 2020, showcasing their talent and versatility with the title track "Bad Idea". Following the success of their first sub-unit, ASTRO announced the creation of their second sub-unit, Jinjin & Rocky, comprised of members Jinjin and Rocky. Their debut EP 'Restore' dropped on January 17, delighting fans with their unique sound and captivating performances.
However, the group faced challenges in February 2023 when it was revealed that Rocky had departed from ASTRO and Fantagio after choosing not to renew his contract. Tragedy struck in April 2023 with the heartbreaking news of Moonbin's passing, leaving fans and the K-pop community in mourning. Despite the setbacks, ASTRO's music continues to resonate with audiences worldwide, solidifying their legacy in the K-pop industry.
