AOA, also known as Ace of Angels, is a dynamic South Korean girl group that was formed by FNC Entertainment in 2012. The group made their debut in July 2012 with a unique concept, simultaneously promoting as a dance group and a band named AOA BLACK. Their first single album "Angel's Story" showcased their talent and versatility.
AOA shot to fame in 2014 with the release of their fifth single album "Miniskirt", which gained international recognition and earned them their first music win on Inkigayo. Their hit songs like Short Hair, Like a Cat, Good Luck, Excuse Me, and Bingle Bangle further solidified their popularity among fans worldwide.
In 2015, AOA achieved critical success with their 3rd EP "Heart Attack", which became one of the most downloaded songs of the year. However, in 2020, the group faced controversy and scandal allegations, leading to an indefinite hiatus. This ultimately resulted in Jimin leaving the group and retiring from the entertainment industry entirely.
Subsequently, Yuna's departure from FNC Entertainment was announced in January 2021, followed by Seolhyun leaving the company in October 2022. Chanmi is also set to depart from FNC in 2024, leading to speculation that the group has disbanded.
Despite the challenges they faced, AOA remains a memorable and influential part of the K-pop industry, leaving behind a legacy of hit songs and memorable performances.
