ILLIT, stylized as :ll:+, is a dynamic five-member girl group signed under Belift Lab. The group’s name, 'ILLIT', stems from the powerful statement “I Will Be It”, symbolizing their determined and ambitious spirit (I will) as well as their distinct identity (It). The name also signifies their ability to transform into anything, depending on the action word inserted between the two terms. Originally formed with six talented members who showcased their skills on the JTBC reality show R U Next?, ILLIT saw Youngseo parting ways with the group on January 5, 2024, amicably agreeing to terminate her contract with Belift Lab. The group made their official debut on March 25, 2024, with the release of their captivating mini-album 'Super Real Me' featuring the hit track 'Magnetic'. ILLIT quickly rose to fame, setting new records both locally and internationally. 'Magnetic' achieved an impressive 73 PAKs (Perfect All Kill), making ILLIT the second K-pop group in history to accomplish this milestone with a debut single, following in the footsteps of BLACKPINK's 'Whistle'. In Japan, 'Magnetic' became the fastest girl group song to reach 100 million streams on Oricon in just 11 weeks, surpassing the previous record by 8 weeks and ranking as the second fastest for an international artist after BTS. Additionally, on Spotify, 'Magnetic' became the quickest debut single by a K-pop act to hit milestones of 50 million, 100 million, and 200 million streams. Making history once more, on April 16, 2024, ILLIT became the first K-pop group to debut on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart with 'Magnetic' securing the No. 91 spot, solidifying their status as the fastest group to achieve this feat. On September 1, 2024, ILLIT proudly introduced their official fandom name as GLLIT, inspired by the radiant concept of "Glitter".
